I go here all the time for coffee—I’m a familiar face. This time, I was sitting with a friend (who purchased something) and was asked to leave because I hadn’t purchased anything myself. So disrespectful especially when I am patron here. Not anymore.

They manage to have an industrial space with homey vibes – something not many places can pull off.I love the variety of seating and how many plugs there are everywhere. The service is quick and efficient. They have a restroom for customers.I loved that they had gluten free snack options.I wish they had gluten free bagels and warm food available. I also wish they had a charging station available.

I really liked the atmosphere and that there are places to work/sit. On the other hand, it took a long time to get an employee’s attention (like 2 min when I initially went to order and more to ask for a bathroom key) and I had a matcha latte that mostly tasted like soy milk and had matcha clumping at the bottom. It was not worth the price.

One of my favorite coffee shops in the city, due to its plentiful seating and cute decor! Haven’t had the chance to try their cocktails, but the coffee is pretty good, albeit a bit pricy ($7ish for an small oat latte). The huge perk is that I always manage to find a seat here, and it’s the perfect place for doing some work, catching up with friends or a quick pick me up!Classy, Outdoor Seating, Beer & Wine Only, Gender-neutral restrooms, Dogs Allowed.

I ordered a banana bread, there was a brand new loaf which looked fluffy and moist, but it had a thin and unpleasant looking border slice.. guess which one the cashier gave me? I asked the cashier id he noticed and if he could give me a middle/ normal piece.. the cashier responded “no, that’s how life is sometimes”. Mmm yes, when there is people like you in it.. Clearly this is not only terrible service but also why are they selling the dry end of the loaf.. and who gives that to the first customer that orders it instead of leaving it till the end? Honestly that gal should look for a backend job.. not fit for hospitality. By the way, I did try the banana loaf and had to throw it away. Dry as hell. Terrible experience for a very fast interaction.

Stopped in with my son after a visit to the Museum of Illusions next door. He had the matcha pomegranate lemonade and a slice of iced lemon loaf. I just desperately needed coffee. We sat and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. That coffee was one of the smoothest I’ve had, and my son loved his treats too. Staff was friendly as well.

It’s a very cute coffee shop, but I would never recommend coming here to work like many people have done. Unless you’re someone who can work with distractions, it’s WAY too loud to focus on anything. I have noise canceling headphones and play white noise in them to focus, and even with that, I could hear the music blasting. If you just want to hang out with friends, it’s a great coffee shop and the latte I had was decent

Let's look at what users say about this business
I’ll preface this with the claim that I have been coffee’ing at Perk since its original founder opened it. Years ago, this was not a place that – thanks to customers and management – operated like a mini Starbucks. Today, sadly, and definitely today 4/6/24, entitlement reigns supreme. The coffee is terrific. Ditto the tea and pastries from/by Balthazar. What isn’t terrific are the customers. Today, we’ve got one person and their laptop taking up three two top tables, and one person with themselves and their laptop at one seat at the community table, and their backpack on its own seat, I am better than you on the subway style. They will be here for hours, not ordering again, and bogarting seats and space to the detriment not only to other customer, but more importantly to the business. Even though it is owned by an out of state company that appears to have eyes on franchising it, it’s still local, NOT a chain, and staffed by a few people who, like most who work in food and beverage service, work hard because they care and not because they are paid six figures.I recognize that my statements here are mine and mine alone. Same time, this is not how a small, local, small batch coffee serving, high quality product providing place ought to be treated by customers. If management isn’t going to enact policy and procedure to prevent or limit bogarting of seats, customers need to apply more empathy and less entitlement to their visits to Perk on East 37th.If you’re curious, I am seated at the foot of the community table, and have just finished the third of my ordered beverages.
